First Frost

The first little frost.
Stepping outside this morning and my breath being a damp mist in front of my face,
Small ice crystals on surfaces.
The cold reaching every part of me,
Inspiring a hop, skip and jump of excitement.
I love this time of year.
The cosy evenings, warm fires and woolly jumpers.
I am so grateful that I love this time of year.
As I enter day 24, I feel the frost getting nearer within me.
These darker autumnal evenings mirroring my internal cycle.
I feel attuned. Connected.
I am slowing down,
My leaves are falling,
Baring my branches.
The sap is dropping,
I am ready for the imminent hibernation.
